This is much more my sort of perfume.

It has that powdery, slightly old-fashioned quality that I know will not appeal to everyone, but on my skin it becomes soft, warm and beautifully elegant rather than dated.

It is noticeable without being overbearing, which is what I want from perfume.

 I never tire of it.

I respect this perfume far more than I enjoy wearing it. A friend of mine wore it the other day and it smelled absolutely lovely on her, which made me wonder whether I had been too quick to dismiss it.

So the next time I was in a department store, I tried it on my own skin and wore it for the rest of the day.

By the evening, I had reached exactly the same conclusion as before: beautiful perfume, just not for me.

Being over 50 does not automatically mean one develops a moral obligation to love Chanel. The smell is simply not my cup of tea.

• good alternative for the K18 Leave-In if you're on a budget like me
• feels too heavy if I leave too much in

Gives my hair a bit more texture and stops it from looking flat without making it feel stiff or  full of product. Very useful on days when washing it was apparently not part of the plan 😎.

Always gets me through one more day.

I splurged and bought this with store credit. I like the idea of a lighter fragrance I can spray casually without committing to a full perfume. What I struggle with is paying premium prices for something I personally would reapply throughout the day.

This was nice and cooling, slightly ridiculous but entertaining to use. My skin felt hydrated immediately afterward and looked smoother for the rest of the evening. By the next morning, though, the effect had mostly disappeared. It also took more time and effort than I usually want from a single-use mask. I understand the appeal for a self-care night, but in the future I would only use it if I had plans for a long evening 💃💃.

The pigment is not playing around! A tiny amount gives proper colour, which I appreciate because I’ve used plenty of blushes that like to disappear on darker skin. The downside is that there is very little room for absent-minded application 😅. Once I learned to use less, I liked it much more. The colour stays visible and blends beautifully. 

I’ve used Black Honey on and off FOR YEARS and it’s still one of the best things in my makeup bag.

I’m genuinely too lazy for proper makeup most days, but I still want my skin to look even. This does exactly that.

I just use my fingers, tap it under my eyes, around my T-zone and wherever something needs covering. A little gives me a really natural, even finish, and if I need more coverage, I just add more. No technique required. My kind of product. 💯

I’ve been using it for about two years now and will keep repurchasing it.

I used this 2 - 3 nights a week on the rougher areas of my arms and legs. I followed up with a plain lotion on drier days because it isn’t especially moisturising on its own. Slowly, the small bumps on my arms looked smoother and my skin felt more even. 

The change was gradual, so this definitely isn’t a product for anyone expecting overnight results.

These were one of the less glamorous purchases I made while pregnant and easily one of the most useful afterwards.

 I appreciated that everything was already contained in one product rather than having to improvise something myself.

I didn’t need them for very long, but during that short window I was extremely grateful they existed.
